FOUR people have been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic incident yesterday.
Two people were taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford while two others were taken to Southampton General Hospital after the accident at Whitchurch.
The incident occurred at around 3.30pm on the A34 southbound causing huge tailbacks in both directions after the road was closed.
Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance arrived at the scene as well as three ambulances, a doctor, and a hazardous area response team.
One young man was flown to John Radcliffe with suspected head injuries while a woman was driven there with unknown injuries.
Another man and woman were taken to Southampton General Hospital. It is thought the woman had possible pelvic or back injuries.
It is believed a caravan was one of the vehicles included.
Southbound traffic was redirected at junction with the A343 while northbound traffic was redirected via the Bullington Cross junction.
Some people reported being stuck on the dual carriageway for over an hour and a half.
