Work begins on energy-saving street lamps
WORK to install new street lamps across Compton and Shawford is now underway.
The project, Lights on in Hampshire, means new lamps will be erected on Attwoods Drive, Martins Field, Compton Street, Compton Pedestrian subway, Place Lane subway, Shawford Road and Pearson Lane.
The works are due to end on September 30 and will see better quality white light and energy saving lamps. It is hoped they will reduce light pollution as they point downwards and will save energy usage by remote monitoring, which will take place between midnight and 5am.
