POLICE are searching for two women after an elderly lady was pick-pocketed in Winchester.
A 93-year-old woman had her purse stolen before midday on June 27 whilst shopping in Poundland in Middle Brook Street.
It contained £30 in cash, bank cards and a photo of her husband.
Detectives have released CCTV images to try and track the women down, who have also been spotted approaching other elderly women and attempting to steal their purses, but without success.
Pictured above: Police have released CCTV images to try and locate the women.
The first woman is described as white, aged in her early 20s, and about 5ft 5ins tall. She was of a chunky build and had straight long black hair. She had an olive complexion and is described as maybe of Eastern European origin.
The second woman is described as white, aged in her late 40s to early 50s, between 5ft 8ins – 10ins tall and of proportionate build. She had fair to blonde long hair and was wearing glasses.
Detective Constable Steve Brown said: “These two women were actively targeting elderly women and made several attempts to steal from people shopping in the city.
“I would also like to advise people to ensure their purses are kept in closed handbags. It seems that one woman tried to distract the victim and the other stole the purse, so I would remind people to be aware of unknown people who may approach you while out shopping.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Brown at North Walls Police Station on 101 or call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
