A VILLAGER who gave 60 years service to her local church has passed away in hospital aged 88.

Gladys Trickle lived for many years at Hinton Hill, Hinton Ampner, and was closely involved with All Saints Church, serving 17 years as churchwarden.

A service of thanksgiving will be held at All Saints tomorrow (Friday August 8) at 2pm.

In 2012 a surprise party was held at Bramdean and Hinton Ampner Village Hall to mark her 60 years service.

In 2008 speaking to the Hampshire Chronicle she reminisced about the 1930s when electricity was installed and the 1950s when mains water was laid on, replacing the well in the garden.

The mother of one and grandmother of two is survived by a brother and sister Horace and Ena Nicholson, who also live in Hinton Ampner.
