THE weather was again glorious as a Winchester estate came together for a Party in the Park.

The field, by the Carroll Centre on Somers Close in Stanmore, was packed on Saturday afternoon for the free event now in its fourth year and bigger than ever.

There was a variety of things to enjoy including a children’s fun fair, go-karting, zumba dancing, sports coaching, a fashion show, a mobile farm and the Romsey Old Cadets Carnival Show Band dressed as pink pigs or was it panthers? Whatever it was, they must have been very hot.

The Party in the Park event was organised by A2Dominion housing association with its South Central Forum of residents and the city council.

A2Dominion promoted its ‘Be Inspired’ youth enterprise scheme at the event, with young entrepreneurs from its Dragon’s Den initiative describing their experiences.

The event was supported by Love Stanmore, a campaign launched last year to encourage residents to take pride in where they live.
