A HAMPSHIRE school has been presented with a special award aimed at recognising work undertaken by school councils.
Hiltingbury Junior School, near Chandler’s Ford, was presented with a Speaker School Council Award having been highly commended for one of its projects.
The project entitled “we care about learning”, run by the school’s Learning Council, was said to have demonstrated a positive impact on pupils, staff and the wider community.
Jorge de Freitas, a member of the Learning Council, said: “I was extremely pleased when we were told how well we had done in the competition; we had all worked hard throughout the year trying to improve the learning in Hiltingbury Junior School and are very happy with what we have accomplished.”
Miss Chambers, head of the Learning Council, added: “Overall, the big aim of our We Care project was to create a buzz about learning and the buzz in our school is palpable!”
