THE patron of a Winchester charity played host with her husband last week for a fundraising evening of fizz and canapés.

Lady Wakeham, the patron of AgeUK Winchester, and Lord Wakeham opened their doors on Friday (July 11) in aid of her charity.

The event was one of many events in line with this year’s Hampshire Fare Food Festival.

Lady Wakeham said: “A huge thank you to Hampshire Fare from all at AgeUK Winchester for setting up our fund-raising evening at Pinglestone Barn. Those who came thoroughly enjoyed it and the produce was just wonderful. The good news is that with donations already received we will have made a significant sum of money for AgeUK.”

Hattingley Valley Wines, a vineyard based in the Candover Valley, provided the bubbly while cheeses and ice-creams were on show from Laverstoke Park Farm. There were also fish cakes from Catch, pork pies from Jake’s Artisan Pies, salad dressings from Cold Pressed Oil, fruit juices from Hill Farm Juice, and chocolates from New Forest Chocolates.

Tracy Nash, commercial manager with Hampshire Fare, added: “Pinglestone Barn was a beautiful setting for this local produce event raising funds and awareness of AgeUK Winchester and the good work they do. Our thanks also go to all the producers who gave up their time to attend.”
