FORGET Froome and Cavendish – Winchester supermarket employees are gearing up for their very own Tour de France style fundraiser.
From Friday, July 18, until Sunday, July 20, staff at Winchester Tesco Extra, in Easton Lane, will ride 200 miles using exercise bikes to raise money for Diabetes UK.
To celebrate the Tour de France coming to the UK, they will be getting into the spirit by competing in a Messieurs versus Mesdames contest.
Paul Amadi, director of fundraising for Diabetes UK, said: “It's great Tesco colleagues at Winchester Extra are embracing the cycling theme and going the distance for their Tour De Tesco event in support of the partnership between Tesco and Diabetes UK. The money raised will go towards supporting the 3.2 million people with diabetes in the UK and help people at high risk of type two diabetes reduce their risk of the condition.”
On Friday and Saturday they will ride from 9am until 9pm, and on Sunday from 10am until 4pm.
