A COUNCIL flat development faces a four-month delay because only one sky-high tender was received for the building work.
Bids are now set to be invited for the £4.2m Victoria House scheme for a second time.
Council planners estimate the only tender received so far is over £700,000 above the value of the construction work of 18 one and two-bedroom properties on land in Winchester’s Victoria Road.
Last Wednesday’s Cabinet Housing Committee again reaffirmed its commitment to build at least 300 new council homes within the district by 2024.
The local authority wishes to make inroads into its housing waiting list, which currently stands at around 2,200.
