BISHOP’S Waltham army cadets have pressed hard to raise more than £600 for Help for Heroes.

Members of 4 Troop Bishops Waltham, Army Cadet Force presented a cheque to the charity for £634.23. The money was raised by doing the Penny Push-up Challenge.

Fifteen to twenty cadets aged 12-18, took turns to do as many press-ups as possible in one hour.

They totalled 2,837. The cadets then went to their sponsors and received a penny per push-up.

The Troop was delighted with the amount of press-ups achieved by the cadets, everyone worked very hard and far exceeded the expected result.

4 Troop is one of the best detachments in Y Company, part of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Army Cadet Force.

They meet twice a week in Bishop’s Waltham where they learn military-themed skills such as first aid, navigation, field craft, drill, target shooting and much more.
