More than 70 girls were preparing for their latest production, Dr Dolittle, at dress rehearsals.

Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers all took part in the show Dr Dolittle, which was staged at the Winchester school, with backstage support from the Chesil Theatre.

Jo Ashwell, leader of 1st Kings Worthy Guides and Downs Rangers, who produced the show, said: “We picked the play because it has some really lovely songs in it, and it is a good one for just girls.

“It was really nice to see it come together and to see the costumes, which were a bit more complicated than usual ones.”

Hannah Bruce, 14, of Downs Rangers, played the lead role of Matthew Mugg, and said that despite her nerves she was excited to be involved.

“We had a lot of fun,” she said.

“I think it is really beneficial because it is something I can say to people that I have done, and have sung in front of people. It’s been a nice experience.”
