THE Mayor of Winchester is staging an Ambassadors Ball next Friday, April 11, to raise money for charity.

Mayor and mayoress Ernie and Barbara Jeffs are hosting the black tie ball at Winchester Guildhall from 7pm. Tickets £40.

This year the three main mayoral charities are: Winchester Network Scouts, Countess Mountbatten Hospice and Hounds for Heroes.

Proceeds will also go into a community pot supporting Alresford and District Guiding, Alresford Community Centre, Alresford Town Trust bus, Alresford Rugby Club, Winchester Cathedral Trust, Royal British Legion, Trinity Centre, Citizens Advice Bureau Out Reach, Home Start, Age UK and Rowans Hospice.

This year’s Mayor’s Charity Concert at the Winchester Cathedral will be on Thursday May 1 at 7.30pm.
Winchester Chamber Orchestra, featuring Jinah Shim and the Conchord Singers will perform Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. Guest narrator is former England cricket captain David Gower.

Meanwhile the retiring mayor’s official dinner will be at the Guildhall on Friday May 30.
