A WINCHESTER group of pensioners have been busy knitting up a storm all in aid of a good cause.

The Beehive, a group from Weeke for the over 60s that meets up regularly for a coffee and a natter, have been knitting chicks in the build up to Easter to raise money for the Boaz project.

The group has made over 400 so far, each one containing a chocolate egg, to be sold for £1 each in a bid to raise as much money as they can for the charity.

The Boaz project is a Christian organisation that works with adults who have learning difficulties helping them to do gardening, craftwork, woodwork and cooking.

The Beehive group is also available for people from Harestock and Teg Down to meet once a week and get involved with similar projects.

For more information about the group or to donate to the project call the St Barnabas office on 01962 886629.
