Winchester civic chiefs to close flood emergency centre
1:35pm Monday 3rd March 2014 in News
THE Emergency Control Centre in Winchester will close at the end of today as the flooding crisis eases.
Although the City Council will stop operating a staffed control centre any necessary action can still be commissioned quickly.
The council’s senior management will monitor the situation and keep the approach under review.
Contact can be made via the council’s Customer Services Centre on 01962 840222, which includes out-of-hours arrangements, and for the rest of this week during working hours on 01962 848364 also.
In the event of calls, a response will be instigated through normal mechanisms with a senior officer being notified and deciding on appropriate action.
The council’s focus is now shifting towards recovery. It is considering how to remove sandbags and clean-up.
