A MAN was airlifted to hospital following a four-car crash on Friday (FEB 28).

The 25-year-old suffered neck injuries and was airlifted from the scene, on the A334 Sandy Lane, at Shedfield, by the air ambulance.

Firefighters had to cut the roof off his Vauxhall Corsa to get him out.

The accident, which happened shortly before 7.30am, shut the road in both directions between Wickham and Curdridge and involved a Ford Fiesta, Land Rover, Skoda and Corsa.

Police said the man's injuries were not thought to be serious and another person sustained minor injuries.

The road re-opened half an hour later.
