WHILE water levels were continuing to rise in Winchester, no-one at a once flood-hit city centre school was too bothered.
St Bede Church of England Primary flooded in 2000 forcing an 18-month relocation to Bereweeke.
When they returned the school had been rebuilt and raised.
Bursar Doreen White said today: “We have sandbags but there is no concern for the building this time. The floor has been raised by two feet. The Environment Agency, city and county council are monitoring things.”
The school’s back gate onto Park Avenue was closed on Wednesday and staff have had to park elsewhere.
But Mrs White said there was no risk that the school itself would have to shut.
Meanwhile local MP Steve Brine met officials from the city and county councils on aptly-named Water Lane to discuss the level of the River Itchen.
