A HAMPSHIRE boat company has had one of their vessels christened by the Princess Royal.

Whitchurch-based Churchouse Boats were visited by Princess Anne, who is president of the Royal Yacht Association (RYA) and patron of the RYA Sailability, which helps disabled people to sail.

Earlier in the month she visited the firm’s stand at the London Boat Show to officially christen the Penny Wake.

The Drascombe Longboat will be used at Rutland Sailing Club, and has been built to include various modifications, making it easier for disabled people to use.

Churchouse have built several boats for use by community groups in the past, such as the Scouts and outdoor education providers.

They also built two Drascombe Gigs, which were part of the Royal Flotilla to celebrate The Queens Diamond Jubilee in 2012.
