IT hasn’t gone away.
That’s the message from Micheldever Station ahead of a meeting organised by residents angry at plans for a power station in their village.
The controversial scheme from Clear Power Properties would see an ‘energy from waste’ plant built on a former railway sidings.
Hampshire County Council is to have the final say on the scheme which has already been given the thumbs-down by Winchester City Council.
Under the proposals up to 210,000 tonnes of domestic and commercial waste per year could be transported to the site.
It would be enough to produce 7.6 megawatts of electricity and power 8,000 homes, but many residents are unhappy that it would be located just 80-metres away from the nearest homes The meeting, organised by Micheldever Action Group, is to be held at Warren Hall, Micheldever Station, at 11am on Saturday, January 18.
