POLICE have named the man killed in a road crash in Waltham Chase on Thursday afternoon.

He was Timothy Barfoot, of Shakespeare Road, Eastleigh.

At 1.45pm, Mr Barfoot was riding a blue Suzuki GXSR motorcycle on the B1277 Winchester Road towards Bishop Waltham, when it collided with a silver BMW heading in the same direction.

Mr Barfoot who was propelled by the force of the crash into a stream was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 23-year-old woman driving the BMW was treated for shock.

Police are continuing their appeal for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or saw either vehicle beforehand.

Witnesses should contact Inspector Steve Wakeford at Fratton Roads Policing unit on 101, quoting Operation Betula.

Tributes have been paid to a popular newlywed motorcyclist and much-loved dad. The 41-year-old was enjoying life with Michelle whom he married on August 27 last year.

At the scene in Waltham Chase yesterday a number of floral tributes had been tied to the railings of a bridge that passes over the stream.

One had a ‘best dad ever’ card, while another had a small yellow toy motorbike.

Another read: “To our dear, dear brother, time has been too short we love you and you will always be in our hearts, Paul and Shazza”.

Other tributes said “RIP Timmy never forget you. Love forever, Hamish” and “Sadly missed, never forgotten, all our love Sarah and Megan”.

Another read: “RIP Timmy. You were amazing to us all up to now and you will be forever in our hearts! Goodnight and lots of love, God bless, Marley x”.
