THE FAMILY of a Winchester boy killed in an avalanche in Austria last month has now returned home.

Winchester College student Cameron Bespolka, 16, died on December 17 after he, his father and a ski guide were engulfed in snow in the resort of Lech am Arlberg.

The avalanche swept Cameron, dad Kevin, 51, and the guide 150 metres down the mountain leaving Cameron's triplet brother Nicholas, who had been skiing behind them, watching from the top.

Cameron's mother, Corinne Bespolka, 53, the boys' triplet sister Megan and 12-year-old sister Sienna, are believed to have been at their hotel when the accident happened.

The family have now returned home after Mr Bespolka was treated in intensive care for knee and leg injuries and his son Nicholas was treated for trauma by a psychologist.

Police confirmed the ski instructor was being investigated on charges of “negligence leading to serious injury with fatal consequences” as the route the group had taken was not an authorised one.

The Central Hampshire coroner's office has said it is not yet clear when the inquest will be held.

The Hampshire Chronicle has approached a member of Cameron's family who said it did not wish to make a statement at this time.
