THE HILLS really were alive when Wyvern College pupils yodelled to The Sound of Music.
Students proved their abilities to sing, dance, act and hit every high note at their rendition of the sixties musical earlier this month, made famous by Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.
The story of a novice nun who falls for Captain Georg Von Trapp and his beautiful children in war-torn Austria was well executed as students took to the stage singing all the favourites, including the touching Sixteen Going on Seventeen.
Star performers included Jenni Walker as Maria, Francis Judd as Captain Von Trapp and Emily Sandoval as the Mother Abbess. Other memorable roles were played by Rya Bacila, Matilda Bell, Lottie Brown, Reuben Inganni, Jess Long, Isaac Porter, and Phoebe Shepherd as the Von Trapp children.
Cameron Alexander played a convincing Max as did Chandler Bennett as Elsa, Thomas Kingman as Rolf and the supporting cast of nuns.
Karen Cream, head of drama, said: “I love The Sound of Music because it’s such a story. Working with the narrative, the love story and the relationship between Maria and the children, is very exciting.”
