THE OPENING of a new accommodation block at a homelessness hostel was attended recently by the Mayor of Winchester.
Cllr Ernie Jeffs was invited to cut the cake to mark the occasion by the recently retired chair of Emmaus Hampshire, Alison Thompson MBE last Wednesday (December 11).
Cllr Sue Nelms and Cllr Chris Pines also attended and were thanked for their support over the years.
Ms Thompson said: “This marks the end of a six month project to increase our accommodation to 26 spaces. We are most grateful to those of our supporters who helped to fund the venture.”
The Emmaus Hampshire Community opened in March 2009 to help homeless people work towards independent living through volunteer work and education courses.
