A BANKER from Winchester has successfully battled against the elements to raise funds for charity.
Tim Woolford, 23, headed out to Mount Everest on October 5 and is fund-raising for Clic Sargent.
Mr Woolford, of Sycamore Drive, Kings Worthy, works for Santander, and Clic Sargent, who help children and young people with cancer, is their designated charity this year.
He was part of a group of 24 who spent two weeks on a gruelling 119km trek to the base camp, with the aim of raising £80,000 – a figure they smashed, raising £100,000 instead.
Mr Woolford said: “Although we were denied the opportunity of getting all the way to Everest Base Camp by an unprecedented storm, everyone had an unforgettable time. It was a hugely rewarding experience both taking part in the trek and raising money for CLIC Sargent. I hope the money raised will help CLIC Sargent continue the brilliant work they do across the UK.”
