MOTORISTS using Winchester’s Park and Ride sites can pay with their mobile phones for the first time from Wednesday November 27.
Many of the city’s car parks already offer the option of payment by telephone which is especially helpful for those who may not have coins with them.
Cllr Jan Warwick, Winchester City Council Portfolio Holder for Neighbourhoods and Environment, said: “This development brings our Park & Ride sites into line with other city car parks and makes them more convenient for people to use."
There are three Park and Ride car parks: South Winchester, and the East Winchester car parks - Barfield and St Catherine's with more than 1,600 spaces.
The Park and Ride car parks are available seven days a week. The bus service usually operates Monday to Saturday only, except on bank holidays. There are extra services in the run-up to Christmas.
