NAOMI House children's hospice has announced a special guest for their open day and fete this year.

Ollie Wade, whose debut single Free was released during Children's Hospice Week in April, will perform at the event on Sunday, September 15.

The 19-year-old also performed the song for the Duchess of Cambridge when she visited Naomi House and Jack's Place.

He wrote the song in memory of his brother Ben, who had cerebral palsy and died aged 19, having been cared for on many occasions at Naomi House.

Ollie said: “We went [to Naomi House] every day before his funeral and it made all the difference for us to be able to see him. The staff were so very empathetic and understanding of what we were going through. Everything stops when you are there, and you are able to say your goodbyes in your own way and in your own time.”

All proceeds from Ollie's single Free are being donated to the hospice.

There will also be bouncy castles, tombolas, a petting farm, animal displays, shops and stalls, and blue lights vehicles, as well as a BBQ and homemade cakes on sale.

Organisers say this is a chance to get a look at the life-changing treatment on offer at the hospice.

The open day will take place at Naomi House and Jacksplace on September 15 from 11am to 4pm.

Entry costs £2.50 for adults, £1 for children and under 5s go free. Parking will be available at Forest Edge Kart Club, Barton Stacey: a free vintage bus park and ride service will be running every 10 minutes.
