A HAMPSHIRE ale has been selected as the only ale to be sold at this year’s PSP Southampton Boat Show this weekend.

Upham Brewery’s Punter ale, made in the Meon Valley, will be sold at the boat show, held from September 13-22 at the marina in Mayflower Park at Town Quay.

It comes as part of a deal with Carlsberg who will be the main provider of lager for the show, which is now in its 45th year, after the brewery has developed associations with yachting and sailing events.

Earlier this summer Upham’s Punter ale, which has a strength of 4% ABV, was sold onsite at Cowes Week for the first time.

The brewery also has further nautical links as it owns The Navigator at Lower Swanwick on the banks of the River Hamble.

David Butcher, director at the Upham Ale Company, said: “With over 120,000 visitors a year the PSP Southampton Boat Show is a fantastic opportunity to be able to bring Upham ales to Southampton.

“To be the only cask ale chosen to be involved is a real testament to the taste and quality of our ales and we are very proud to be part of this year’s show.”
