WHEN Amanda Young decided to lose her trendy pink hair cut and return to something more natural, she decided it was a potential fundraiser.
The 40-year-old customer services advisor wanted to support families with young children and chose Home-Start because her employer, Utilita, already work with them.
She said: “My hair has been so many different colours over the years, I decided that shaving it off would be the best way to get back to my natural colour. Home-Start is Utilita’s charity and a cause that I fully support, so it made sense to raise money for this new step in my life!”
And it was a familiar face that wielded the scissors for her new hair-do - her managing director, Bill Bullen, did the honours.
So far she has raised nearly £500 and Home-Start’s Anne MacPherson said the charity was grateful.
“As a local charity providing support for local families, it’s really encouraging to receive this help from a business which is also rooted in the local community.”
