A HAMPSHIRE man has his sights set on the mother of all charity challenges.
Tim Woolford, 23, is heading out to tackle Mount Everest on October 5 and is fundraising for CLIC Sargent.
Mr Woolford, of Kings Worthy, Winchester, works for Santander, and CLIC Sargent, who help children and young people with cancer, and their families, is their designated charity this year.
He’ll form part of a group of 26 spending two weeks on a gruelling 119km trek to the base camp, with the aim of raising an impressive £80,000.
Mr Woolford, an auditor with the bank, said: “I’m really looking forward to the trek. I know it’s going to be tough work so I’ve been in putting some hard hours training for it. However, it’s for a really good cause, so the blood, sweat and tears will be well worth it.”
Lisa Whittaker, of CLIC Sargent, said: “We are delighted with the enthusiasm and commitment being shown by Tim and the whole team. The response from the Santander staff has been fantastic and we are very grateful for the funds they are raising.”
