A FATHER-and-son team are putting their feet up after cycling from Winchester Cathedral to Notre Dame and back.

Tobias Stonier, a pupil at Kings' School, completed the 600-mile trip with his father Graham, of Stockbridge Road, in ten days – in the midst of a heat wave and with no back-up.

“The weather was quite tough but other than that it all went well,” said Mr Stonier, a science tutor and examiner.

In Paris, Tobias cycled in the tyre tracks of Tour de France winner Chris Froome, passing down the down fabled Champs Elysees.

"The cobbles were surprisingly uncomfortable", he said.

The pair started off at Winchester Cathedral on July 24 and cycled to Portsmouth to catch the overnight ferry to St Malo.

And from there they made their way to Paris, returning via Caen.

So far Tobias has raised over £500 in aid of Cancer Research UK and contributions are still welcome at www.justgiving.com/tobias-stonier.
