WINCHESTER is to celebrate the great Hampshire hog this month.

Hampshire Farmers’ Market will be alive with activity and special events on Sunday, September 29, with hog-themed competitions for children, not to mention the thrills of piglet racing.

The market’s pork producers will present their award-winning produce at the Taster Unit, cooking up a variety of sausages, with an opportunity for visitors to vote for their favourite.

The day will be the centre piece of the Hampshire Markets’ celebrations for the British Food Fortnight, which runs from September 21 to October 6.

The fortnight promotes home-grown food, encouraging shoppers to buy local and espousing the benefits of in-season food.
