ROMSEY'S Bradbeers department store is all geared up again for the Christmas rush despite having more than £20,000 worth of perfumes, cosmetics and clothes stolen.

It has acted quickly to replace the goods which were taken when smash-and-grab raiders used a sledge hammer to crash their way in from the Bus Station side of the store.

They took cosmetics and toiletries, including such leading brand names as Dior and Estee Lauder and men's clothing, including knitwear, jackets, shirts and scarves.

The raid was the second at the store this year, following one on May 1, where more than £2,000 worth of high quality clothing, including Ben Sherman shirts and Melba jackets was taken.

But although the latest one was in the same area as the clothing raid, managing director Greg Davies said it was not the same window.

And he added: "Since the cosmetics were taken, we have considerably strengthened security at the store.

"We have also replaced the goods which were stolen and everything is back in full swing."

Police scenes of crime officers have been at the store and have also been studying CCTV footage. Anyone with information and anyone offered cut-price clothing or cosmetics is asked to contact Romsey Police on 0845 045 45 45.
