A PLANNING appeal hearing has been fixed for next April over proposals to build homes at the rear of Romsey's White Horse Hotel.
But Test Valley planners have not ruled out the possibility that further negotiations might resolve the issue before then.
Romsey Developments Limited applied for permission to create 14 dwellings and convert the former stables at the hotel into six commercial units.
After that scheme had been rejected by Test Valley Borough Council's Southern area planning committee, an appeal was lodged with the planning inspectorate.
The appeal hearing has been set for April 4, but Borough Head of planning Madalene Winter said this week that agreement could be reached before then.
She explained: "Our officers are still in negotiation with the applicants and it is possible that alternative proposals for the site could be agreed."
