Detectives launch investigation into death of Winchester dad in road crash

POLICE have launched an investigation following the death of a Winchester dad in a car crash last week.
Detectives from Winchester CID and officers from the Road Death Investigation Team have begun a joint investigation into the incident near Colden Common last Friday (aug 23).
Danny Apicella, 24, of Fleming Place, Colden Common, died at the scene after the old style red Mini he was driving collided with a tree on the B2177 Portsmouth Road between Lower Upham and Colden Common.
A 21-year-old woman was taken to Southampton General Hospital with life threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.
Detective Chief Inspector Darren Rawlings said: “The circumstances of this incident are under investigation. We’d like to hear from anyone who saw a red Mini travelling along the B2177 prior to the collision or witnessed the crash. If you can help, please get in touch."
