Thousands flock to Stanmore for Party in the Park
IT MAY have been Winchester’s biggest party of the summer.
Thousands of people went to the Carroll Centre in Somers Close, Stanmore, last Sunday for the third annual Party in the Park.
Families enjoyed taking part in a 75ft assault course, children’s go-karting, mini athletics, African drumming and an Arsenal soccer school.
Marcus Johnson, site supervisor at the centre, said: “We thought it went very well. We think we had more than 2,000 people along so it was very successful and we are hopeful of running it again next year.
“The stalls were very good as was the entertainment but the best thing was probably the fact we had so many people through the doors. It was well managed and the feedback we have had so far is very positive.”
The free event was organised by the city council, housing association A2Dominion, South Central Forum and the Carroll Centre.
It was sponsored by Millwood Servicing Limited, Osborne Hampshire and IOW Sports, Love Stanmore and Tesco.
