A SURVEY at a Winchester pub site over the next few weeks will clarify its potential uses.
The city council will survey the New Queen's Head in Stanmore including trees and on adjoining land at Stanmore Recreation Ground.
The council bought the pub earlier this year for potential community use, including relocating the Carroll Centre.
Keith Wood, council leader, said: “Work is on track to bring a final version of the Stanmore Planning Framework to Cabinet for a decision in the autumn including feedback from the public consultation.
“In the mean time we will look at the New Queen's Head pub site to see what options it provides. We want to make best use of this asset for the good of the community in Stanmore as soon as we can.”
Cllr Wood added: “We have not made any decisions about the use of the pub site at this stage. The survey will help us to understand what is practical and possible.”
The city council launched plans to revamp the Stanmore estate earlier this year. The ideas included developing recreation space and knocking houses down for redevelopment and building on allotments and garages.
