WINCHESTER Fashion Week climaxed with two sell-out shows at the Guildhall.

The city’s dedicated followers of fashion packed into the Bapsy Hall on Saturday (April 20) to be treated to a visual feast comprising modern trends and design classics.

Professional models showcased collections from more than twenty of the city’s top retailers, including Gieves and Hawkes, LK Bennett, Jack Wills, Jigsaw, Marks & Spencer, Maxims Hobbs, White Stuff, Truth or Dare, River Island, Anokhi, Jeremy France Jewellers, Pavilion, Monsoon, No.7 at Boots, Brides of Winchester and Moss Bros.

After the first show at 2.30pm, Catherine Turness, of the Winchester Business Improvement District, who handled marketing and promotion for the show, said: “We’re looking pretty full, so we’re happy. We’ve had about 160 people and we’ve had people coming from Winchester, Andover, Southampton. All over the South really.

“This event promotes the items in the show, so people can go out afterwards and by the clothes they have seen, and some of the sponsors have done discounts on items as well. And the BID wanted to be involved in the hope that this will push up the footfall on the High Street.”

The evening event, at 7pm, saw even more of the city’s fashion-conscious descend on the guildhall, with organisers estimating a turnout of around 250 people.

Organiser Corrina Jefferies said: “This shows the extreme range of fashion retailers on offer in Winchester.

“The day has been quite demanding but as long as I see those smiling faces in the front row, inspired by the fashions, I’m happy.”
