WINCHESTER College and Wykeham Squash Club joined forces for an epic squash session.

The 24-hour Squashathon was held to raise money for the Winchester Churches Nightshelter.

More than 50 players took part in the event and the youngest participants were just 4-years-old.

Organiser Andy Kettlewell said: “I now know 3am isn't my best time for playing squash! But I’m really pleased the event raised so much money. My thanks goes to everyone who took part and supported.”

Players took shifts over the 24-hour period from Friday, March 22, to Saturday, March23.

Junior members Benny Brandon, Bill Hodgkinson and James Anderson started the event at 5pm before handing the baton over for adult members to brave the graveyard shift.

The Squashathon ended at 5pm on Saturday with a blast of an air horn and much celebrating.

The event has so far raised over £700 for the Winchester Churches Nightshelter.
