FOURTEEN homeowners across Winchester district are opening their doors on Sunday March 24 in the latest Open GreenHouse day.

Organised by Winchester Action on Climate Change, visitors will be able to see how other local people save energy, save money and stay warm.

Between them, the homes showcase energy-saving measures including solar panels, solid wall insulation, low energy lighting, double and triple glazing, air source heat pumps and more.

Susie Phillips, of the local climate change charity WinACC, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to get inspiration and first-hand advice on energy-saving measures that we can all copy in our own homes.”

Clusters of homes of various ages in different parts of Winchester city, Micheldever, Sutton Scotney and Colden Common will include new homes for the first time, as well as Victorian terraced housing and 20th century buildings. Opening times are 1.30-5pm.

Open GreenHouse days in previous years have attracted up to 200 visitors across the district, with the most energy-saving home in Colden Common getting over 50 alone. WinACC hopes to beat this record this year, with more homes on show than ever before.

For a full list of homes visit www.winacc.org.uk/greenhouse, ring 01962 827083, or pick up a brochure at the Green Deal Winchester Help Centre on the upper level of the Brooks Shopping Centre.

The Open GreenHouse event is part of the Green Deal Winchester Project.
