A WINCHESTER deli celebrated a year in business last weekend.

Toscanaccio invited customers to a special wine tasting afternoon on Saturday (March 9) to celebrate its first birthday in Parchment Street.

The shop sells a variety of wine and beer as well as Italian meats and cheese.

Boss Mirko Alighieri said he had enjoyed the first year of business and felt customers really trusted the shop.

He said: “People come in and ask us ‘What do you think’, so they value our opinions on our products.”

Cat Brandwood, director, added: “We’ve been quite surprised how well things have gone since Christmas. We were closed for part of January but since February we have been really busy and it always helps to have such great businesses open around us.”

The deli hosts fortnightly wine tasting nights but Mirko said they would like to make them a weekly event.
