TWO men have been arrested after an attack outside a Winchester pub left a man with fractures to his face.

The 49-year-old victim was confronted after he got out of a taxi outside the First In Last Out.

Police say two men shouted at the victim, before one began hitting him. His injuries included cracks in the bones around his eye, bruising and grazes. He attended the Royal Hampshire County Hospital for treatment and was referred to a specialist at Southampton General Hospital.

The incident happened at around 12.20am on Sunday, February 24 and police are appealing for witnesses.

PC Francis Vasko, of North Walls police station, said: “I would like to speak to any members of the public, local residents or patrons of the First In Last Out pub who may have witnessed the assault.

“If you have any information please get in touch with us and tell us what you know in confidence.”

Two men, aged 28 and 30, both from Winchester, have been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and have been released on police bail pending further enquiries. They are due to return on April 10.
