THE Defence Secretary visited one of Hampshire’s leading technology companies recently.
Philip Hammond was given a tour of Romsey-based Roke Manor Research, a Chemring Group company, to see a number of innovative and advanced technologies developed there, for military and public use.
He also saw a demonstration of recent developments, including RESOLVE, a portable electronic surveillance system which allows soldiers to rapidly locate the enemy in the battlefield, which won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise and Innovation.
Stephen Grinham, managing director at Roke who accompanied the secretary on the tour, said: “We were delighted to have the opportunity to introduce Mr Hammond to some of the ground breaking technologies and product solutions being developed at Roke to protect and enhance people’s lives.”
