WINCHESTER Business Improvement District is urging residents to do all they can for Poverty & Homeless Action Week.

The fundraising drive begins on Saturday, January 26, including ‘Spare Change for Real Change’ donation boxes scattered around the city.

Residents are also asked to donate food, clothes and blankets if they can.

Spare Change for Real Change works with homeless charities Winchester Churches Nightshelter and Trinity Winchester to keep both services going while it also works with the Salvation Army in the city.

The nightshelter is also hosting a special event on Wednesday, January 30 at Winchester Discovery Centre from 7pm with guest speakers from Oxford Brookes University and St Mungo’s in London.

All donations can be taken to the BID offices in Parchment Street from Monday, January 26 to Friday, February 1. For more details contact Emma Shotter via emma.shotter@winchesterbid.co.uk or call 01962 841000.
