County council moving forward with Winchester 'super school' plan
HAMPSHIRE County Council is pressing forward with plans for a new ‘super school’ in Winchester.
The council has submitted a planning application for a 420-place two-form entry primary school, meaning ‘all through’ education provision.
It is the council’s solution to the shortage of school places and comes after a public consultation with parents.
The £7.75m development will be the first county-run school for pupils aged four-16. Proposals also include retaining a 55-place nursery on site as well as increased car parking and landscaping.
Part of an existing boarding house and annexed nursery unit will be demolished as part of the development.
If approved, the new school should be completed by September 2014.
