WINCHESTER police investigating the case of a Good Samaritan who was punched in the face have released a man.
A 52-year-old from Gosport was arrested when he attended an appointment at Winchester Police Station on December 28.
Officers have now eliminated him from their enquiries.
As previously reported, the attack happened near the County Arms in Romsey Road at around 6.40pm on Sunday, November 11.
The victim, a 23-year-old nurse, was driving past a group of men fighting and noticed a man lying in the road.
She stopped her car to drag him from the road and was punched by another man as she got up, suffering bruising to her face.
The attacker is described as white, in his late 40s, about 5ft 9in tall, stocky, bald and wearing a grey suit.
Sgt Stuart Gilmour, of Winchester police, said today: “We have no other suspects at the moment. I have no doubt somebody knows who is responsible but there is a wall of silence. It’s very frustrating.”
