MEON Valley MP George Hollingbery will this weekend be touring areas of his constituency that are at risk of flooding.

Mr Hollingbery will meet residents, parish councillors and flood action groups this morning (Jan 5) in Rowlands Castle, Finchdean and Hambledon.

Mr Hollingbery’s visit comes in the wake of a Met Office announcement that 2012 was the second wettest year since records began.

In Hambledon the sewers have struggled to cope, resulting in flooded fields, roads and paths, though no homes have yet been affected.

"This is a situation I have closely monitored over the Christmas break, so I'm meeting local people and experts in the areas to gauge the size of the problem and see if there is anything I can do to help," he said.
