Staff from Sainsbury's visit pupils at Cherbourg Primary School, Eastleigh
A HAMPSHIRE school has been given an early Christmas present by a local supermarket.
Children at Cherbourg Primary School in Eastleigh were presented with a cheque for £1,000 by staff from Sainsbury’s Eastleigh on Friday (Dec 7).
The school is the supermarket’s charity partner for 2012/13 after staff were impressed with Cherbourg’s commitment to pupils beyond the normal school day.
Pupils can go to school between 7.30am and 6pm and take part in pre-school breakfast clubs and the ‘Bugs Club’ after school, available to all central Eastleigh primary schools.
Children were also given enough ingredients for all of Year 1 to make Christmas cakes this week.
Store manager Chris Strowger said: “We are really pleased to be able to help the school's clubs and support all the children to learn about staying healthy through good food, play and exercise.
“We look forward to sampling the miniature Christmas cakes.”
