New Winchester hotel set for approval
PLANS for a new hotel in Winchester look set to be approved on Thursday.
Planning officers are recommending that approval be given for a four storey 101-bedroom Premier Inn in Winnall at Caledonia House on the corner of Easton Lane and Winnall Manor Road. There would also be an 89-space car park.
Tourism bosses have welcomed the news as Winchester is reckoned to be short of budget accommodation.
There were three letters of objection, citing inadequate parking and the impact on local roads.
The planning is being urged to approve as long as the developer pays £46,345 for improvements to cycling infrastructure and to the Easton Lane-Winnall Manor Road junction.
