WINCHESTER civic chiefs are poised to spend more than £1 million on upgrading heating in four blocks of flats in Winnall.
The city is proposing new heating and hot water services at Braxton, Craddock, Dennett and Earle Houses.
A report recommends that gas systems be used as being the most likely cheapest fuel with a new main being laid into each of the blocks on Winnall Manor Road.
After a consultation of the 156 flats the council has ruled out a communal provision as householders prefer retaining direct control over running costs.
Councillors on the cabinet (housing) committee will make the decision on Monday. (DEC10)
The work would be done from October 2013 to April 2014.
