A WINCHESTER teenager has been appointed to the prestigious post of Lord-Lieutenant's Cadet.
Cadet corporal Hamish Gardner, 16, is a member of the Milton Abbey Combined Cadet Force.
Hamish's commanding officer said: “His dedication, commitment and ability are a credit to him. Hamish has already proved himself to be a very valuable asset to this unit.”
He was also recently elected head of the Round Square School Committee that promotes democracy, adventure, environment and leadership, and is working towards his gold Duke of Edinburgh's award.
Along with another cadet from Dorset, 17-year-old Georgia Newton, Hamish will now accompany Mrs Anthony Pitt-Rivers, Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, on her official engagements.
