HAMPSHIRE residents from Russia, Australia, Ghana, USA, the Philippines, Jamaica, and Malaysia are to pledge their allegiance to The Queen on Wednesday (October 24).

It is the final stage on their journey to British citizenship and will be marked by a jubilee-themed ceremony in Winchester’s Great Hall.

The Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Dame Mary Fagan and the Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Ken Thornber, will present the citizens with their naturalisation certificates and commemorative gifts.

The event, which will close with the national anthem, will feature jugglers and musicians and marks 175 years of civil registration in the UK.
